Guitar is a musical instrument with ancient roots that is used in a wide variety of musical styles. The electric guitar was a key instrument in the development of many musical styles that emerged since the late 1940s.Antonio Torres Jurado refined the strutting guitar to have as many as seven struts under the soundboard.He also increased the body size and width of the neck. This helped in increasing volume and bass response.
Origin of the guitar is unknown, its history can be traced as far back as the Renaissance era.Archaeologists found a clay plaque showing nude figures holding musical instruments, some of which resembled the guitar.
The guitar's roots are in Spain. Realistically, it cannot be traced back further than the 15th Century. It is thought to have been invented by the people of Malaga. This early instrument was a "four course" guitar, from which the ukulele is derived. The first guitars were very small, and were originally strung with four pair of strings. The earliest electric guitars were hollow bodied acoustic instruments with tungsten steel pickups made by the Rickenbacker company in 1931.The first commercially successful solid-body electric guitar was the Fender Esquire (1950).The first publication for guitar is thought to have been Alonso Mudarra's "Tres Libros de Musica en Cifras para Vihuela." Eventually, the guitar began to attract players, more publications and music began to appear.

How to Play?

shocked not to see Fender on that list, would still say gibson stands alone, but would choose fender over a few other of the choices
